Professor Richard Constantine is a senior executive with over 30 years’ experience in the higher education sector.

Richard has had significant experience in relation to the managerial oversight of Information Technology Serices, Libraries, Online Teaching and Learning, University Web Site, Student Administration and Student Services.  He has served as a board member of AARNet Pty Ltd, SABRENet and is currently a board member of VERNet Pty Ltd.

More recently, he joined Victoria University in 2016, to lead VU’s journey in creating a digital campus with executive oversight of the Information Technology Services Department and the development and implementation of the University’s digital strategy. This digital strategy has enabled students to achieve their full potential through the innovative adoption of leading edge technology.

Richard is a fervent believer in making technology work for students and staff. With executive responsibility for the University’s Facilities Services division, Richard has implemented a Campus Master Plan for the University’s physical footprint over its multi-campus environment. Richard believes that the built environment has an important part to play and the Campus Master Plan is designed to optimise the university experience for students by providing high quality, innovative environments that are safe, functional, engaging and environmentally friendly.  At the forefront of Richard’s thinking is the shaping of the physical and virtual infrastructure at VU towards the enrichment of its users by aligning technology and the built environment in providing the best possible student experience with the best student support services.

Richard recognises that each student is an individual with personal goals and he is committed in providing a high quality service offering students the best possible experience and opportunities to succeed at VU.

Richard’s portfolio also includes Engagement and Government relations which has responsibility for managing the relationships between external stakeholders (particularly from Government), Alumni students and the University.

Finally, Richard is a direct report to the Vice-Chancellor and President and as such is member of the Senior Executive Group.  In this role he is involved in numerous task forces and project boards to ensure Victoria University achieves its goal of financial sustainability for the current and future financial years and continues to remain relevant as the University of opportunity and success.
